…and this Substack.
Welcome to Panda Perspectives
I’m thrilled to announce that this Substack is now officially live! It’s been a learning journey, but I’ve genuinely enjoyed the process of writing and look forward to many more reasons to continue.
To all the original subscribers—thank you. Your enthusiasm has been a powerful motivator, pushing me to maintain a strong ethical focus while shaping a product that is both enjoyable for me to produce and valuable for you to read.
Our Mission
The mission of Panda Perspectives is simple: to guide interested investors in gaining a deeper understanding of the opportunities within the Chinese market. I bring over 15 years of experience in Asia, working with both long-only and long/short funds, alongside my years on the sell side. I want to make readers comfortable with the idea of investing in Chinese companies, not just for a trade but as a part of a long term holding.
Three Commitments to deliver on our Mission
1. After a decade of underperformance, I believe the Chinese markets are ripe for revaluation, and that’s a core reason behind this publication. This is an honest belief that I hold presently but am willing to challenge and explore with the readers over time
2. I will bring my full effort and expertise to highlight my best investment ideas in Panda Perspectives. The ideas discussed here are likely to be positions of the funds I work for (PACAT Capital Management) and/or my personal account. At the very least they would have been contenders to be in the portfolio.
3. The offering will continuously evolve in terms of frequency, content types, and delivery methods, with the goal of keeping Panda Perspectives readers fully informed on market developments in China and what drives them and what I believe to be the next logical steps from here.
Understanding the political and macroeconomic landscape is essential to emerging market investing—especially in China. Thus, this Substack will always pay attention to those dynamics.
As we refine the product, I welcome all feedback and insights from subscribers.
